using the GIMP 2.
1. Prepare your base (crop, sharpen, etc.)
2. Duplicate your base and desaturate it.
3. Make a new layer and flood fill it with ffffff, set to Overlay 100%. This lightens it up a little.
4. Make a new layer and flood fill it with 19abbc, set to Overlay 100%, to add a little color.
5. Add this texture
* as a new layer set to Overlay 100%.
6. Add this texture
* as a new layer set to Overlay 100%.
And you're done! Merge layers, flatten image, add text/brushes, etc.
Optional: Add a layer of b1a5a5 at Overlay 100% after the desaturated layer to lighten it up a little. (Layers would be base, desaturated base, b1a5a5, ffffff, 19abbc, texture 1, texture 2).
