So it's NaNo time again, yay. This year it seemed to get off to kind of a slow start. I didn't even reactivate my account at the site until the 31st of October. Probably because I didn't realize how close November was until it was staring me in the face. Then the clock rolled around to midnight:01, and did I start typing? Of course not. I put that off for later in the day, after I'd had some sleep. At least for now I'm on the right track, and even a few words ahead. Today it went like this:

“I should catch up on my word count for the day. Type type type, make sure the turkey's not burning, type type type, the turkey's done, go back upstairs, type type type, I'm really on a roll, look I've made today's word goal, type type type, oh crap the clock says I have to go to work.” I suppose that's part of the challenge of it, having to go and do something else just when the creative juices start flowing.

Because the NaNo site is overloaded at the moment, and having server issues:

The word count isn't as impressive as some (I'm looking at you, [livejournal.com profile] kikibug13), but it's still a little more than today's goal (and today's not over yet).

I've decided that I'm going to give National Novel Writing Month a try again this year.

The reading copy of my thesis is due October 31st (woohoo Halloween) so I should have plenty of free time to work on NaNoWriMo in November.

Now I just need to figure out which idea I want to attempt. Hmmm.

I got my hair cut today.

It went from past my shoulders to chin-length. I'd post a pic, but I'm camera-shy and it's my journal and camera and I don't want to, so there. :-p

Tomorrow is Dish Day. I have determined this.

In other news, so far I'm keeping up with my NaNoWriMo word count. I feel good about this story. I actually want to finish this one, so we'll see what happens.

(Perhaps it's because my MC is loosely based off of me, and I feel even more connected to this story than I usually am.)

I'm going to post what I've got so far, in a separate post. I'm not expecting anybody to read it, I just want to post it. Plus I can keep track of my word count that way, because the site's down at the moment.

Feel free to ignore my ramblings. :)

I have posted the first few pages of an original fic in my other journal here. You must be on my f-list and signed in to read it. Its word count is 962, bringing the total so far to 6,118. Go take a look! :)

Total word count: 6,118
